Pineapple Steak

I love my grills! I have a RecTec Pellet grill/smoker and an old gas ignition Weber charcoal grill. Totally Love them both. I grill, smoke and bake out on my deck as often as possible during the Summer. It is defiantly a Happy Place for me. Needless to say, I am forever looking for new meals to make on a grill.

Many years ago there was a restaurant in West Acres called The Brother’s Deli. Sadly. like so many restaurants it did not stick around for very long. Curt and I rarely go out for meals, and back then even less often because we would have had to get a babysitter. At any rate, somehow we ended up there for a meal one evening and it was SO GOOD. I ordered a Marinated Sirloin that was served with grilled pineapple rings. Of course they would not give me the recipe, so I just had to go home and create it for myself, and for the lack of a better name, I call it the Pineapple Steak.

This particular steak has been a family favorite for years. I think you’ll enjoy it as well.

Pineapple Steak

2 to 4 pounds Sirloin Steak

1 large can Pineapple Juice

1/2 cup Soy Sauce (more or less)

1 1/2 tsp Garlic Granules (or Powder)

Fresh Pineapple cut into rings – or spears (whatever you like)

Mix the juice, soy sauce and garlic.

To allow the flavor to soak into the meat best, I tenderize the steak by taking 2 forks and stabbing the meat all over on both sides. You do not have to do this if you do not wish to. It will still taste great.

I either place the liquid in a flat plastic dish along with the meat or I place it in a freezer bag if I plan to freeze my meat for a later meal. Because there are only two of us I usually freeze half.

Place the meat and juice mixture in the refrigerator for at least 48 hours, turning the meat over a few times while it marinates. If it has been frozen, give it an extra day.

Pour off the juice mixture and grill your steak as you would any other. When the meat it almost done place some fresh pineapple rings on the grill to heat them through.

Serve and Enjoy!
