Years ago I was looking for a different more unique chocolate chip cookie option. I went on line and up popped this recipe. It was truly made by Neumann Marcus bakers in their stores. Whoever had placed the recipe online said that they had to pay a lot of money for this recipe and wanted to share it so nobody else would have to pay. I appreciate that – this is a good one. The ground oatmeal, grated milk chocolate and pecan pieces really make this cookie a treasure in every bite.
Neumann Marcus Cookies
1 1/2 cup Butter
1 1/2 cup Sugar
1 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
3 Eggs
1/4 cup Buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
3 cups Flour
1 3/4 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
3 3/4 cup Oatmeal – ground
6 oz Milk Chocolate – grated
2 1/4 cup Chocolate Chips
2 1/4 cup Pecans – chopped
Grind the oatmeal in a food processor or blender – set aside. Grate the chocolate with a cheese grater or in your food processor – set aside. In a large bowl, blend the flour, soda, salt, baking powder and ground oatmeal – set aside.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In large mixing bowl, using a stand mixer or hand mixer, combine butter with both sugars. Add eggs and buttermilk and vanilla – blend well. Slowly blend in the dry ingredients. When just incorporated remove from mixer and add grated chocolate, chocolate chips and pecans – Fold in By Hand. (Do Not Use a Mixer)
Scoop large cookies and place on parchment paper covered baking sheets. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes – turning pans half way through. Makes approximately 42 large cookies.
Enjoy!
